What is Atopic Dermatitis? |
Atopic Dermatitis is a type of skin inflammation disease which is hereditary in form. This means that this condition is incurable and tends to pass on from one generation to another. In this disease, the skin of the person becomes unbearably itchy and inflamed. It manifests in the body in form of redness, cracks, dryness, swelling, weeping, scaling and crusting. The occurrence of dryness is the main trigger of this kind of skin inflammation. This disease is found among people of all the age groups, however, it is believed to mostly affect infants and young children below the age of 5 years. In conditions where this disease runs into the members of the same family, the symptoms of this disease may never show up in young age. These alert signs may persist into the adult stage and become evident in later years of life. |
