How do Black Heads Form?

Blackheads can be described as dark spots on one’s skin which develops due to accumulation of dead skin cells, oil and bacteria in the partly blocked pores. They appear commonly among the teenagers whose skins are usually very oily.

Blackheads are usually formed when the dead skin cells partly block the skin pores. Sebaceous glands which are situated right underneath the skin emits oil known as sebum which tends to flow through the pores. When the pores are partially blocked the sebum flows very slowly as a result of which it starts accumulating. When this sebum comes in contact with the atmospheric air through the partly open pores it oxidizes and changes to a black color. It is very difficult to cure blackheads completely as they tend to leave an ugly scar mark on the skin. Thus it takes a long time for blackheads to heal completely.

It heals best with time if it is left on its own. If blackheads grow painfully large and become infected, one should immediately consult a doctor to get rid off it. In order to prevent blackheads from appearing on the face individuals should regularly cleanse their face with a good face wash. This helps to keep the pores clean from any obstruction caused by the dead skin cells.
