Skin exfoliation means removal of dead cells that are formed on the skin surface. It is a physiological procedure, which occurs automatically. This is true only for people who possess oily skin. Oily skin secretes too much of oil from oil glands that move onto the skin surface. This interrupts the process of exfoliation of dead skin cells.  People who possess dry skin get dead cells deposit on the skin thus making the skin dark and dull. Exfoliation must be done manually. The process of skin exfoliation removes the dead cells and reveals the inner skin. Elimination of the dead cells from an individual’s skin will expose the living cells. These living cells are capable of absorbing more moisture and the skin looks much younger.  

Regular exfoliation improves the skin health and complexion whereas irregular exfoliation can make the skin uneven and dry. Exfoliation can be of two kinds: mechanical and chemical. Mechanical exfoliation includes the use of loofahs, washcloths and scrubs which improves the abrasion on the skin. Chemical exfoliation involves use of creams,  gels and ointments. Chemical exfoliation is done only after the use of mechanical exfoliation. Cleanser, scrubs are some ways by which you can remove dead cells from the skin.
