Skin exfoliation is the skin treatment which is used to eliminate the dead skin cell layers formed on the top of the surface of the skin. It reveals the inner layer of the skin and thereby giving it a natural glow. Exfoliation helps in skin flaking and shedding.
A new layer of the skin is developed after every 2-4 weeks. Exfoliation renews the cell on the surface of the skin. It sheds off the outer skin thus clearing the dead skin cells. Exfoliation improves the texture and complexion of the skin thereby making it healthy and radiant. It also prevents acne to develop on the skin. It also makes the skin wrinkle free and thus limits the aging. It prevents the skin pores to get clogged. Limited use of exfoliation is beneficial to skin but excessive use of exfoliated products proves harmful for the skin. Alpha and beta hydroxyl acids are the acids used in the skin care products. Alpha hydroxyl break the glue between the skin cells of the epidermis thus allowing exfoliation to take place thereby smoothing the skin. Beta hydroxyl acid is lipid soluble so it works on oily skin cells. So it is healthy to exfoliate the skin but its excessive use can cause irritation and sun sensitivity. |
