Herpeticum eczema develops when eczema patient gets infected with herpes virus. This infection must be diagnosed quickly. However, it is worth noting that even before the occurrence of herpeticum eczema is confirmed the treatment is started because this is a condition and spreads in the entire body to damage the organs. This fatal infection can be diagnosed as follows:

Medical Examination: When a patient with the history of eczema is examined for suspecting the fatal herpeticum eczema, medical examination is vital in the diagnosis. Some of the things that are vital for diagnosis are:

The rash on any part of the body looks scaly and has foul smell because of leaking puss

There might be high fever and swollen lymph nodes

There are blisters on the body

There are punched-out erosions and vesicles and there is extreme pain

The patient has a medical history and/or family history of cold sores

These things must make the medical examiner alert about the strong possibility of herpeticum eczema.

However, this diagnosis is confirmed after testing the culture of skin lesion. Fluorescent antibody staining confirms the presence of virus HSV (herpes simplex virus) type 1.
