What is Herpeticum Eczema?

Eczema herpeticum or herpeticum eczema is a type of herpes simplex virus infection that affects the patients of atropic dermatitis. Eczema is not that serious. But eczema herpeticum is serious and spreads in the entire body. This infection damages liver, brain, kidney and eyes. Thus this can be termed as a fatal infection.

Medical professionals think of this condition as a dermatologic emergency. They don’t wait for the test results but start the treatment fast even before the tests results are confirmed. Acyclovir and Valaciclovir are the most common treatment options when the medical professionals suspect herpeticum eczema.

Some of the symptoms that indicate this health condition can be dry skin, itching, blisters, redness, inflammation and leaking blisters. It is important to treat this fatal disorder with antiviral therapy. Red and dry patches create lot of discomfort. These patches might either be on some parts or the entire body. Itching also creates lot of discomfort and embarrassment. However, it is worth noting that this disorder is not contagious and thus does not spread from one person to another. When the patient suffering from eczema has some unusual symptoms and pain, it is important to seek medical attention at the earliest because, it can take form of the fatal herpeticum eczema infection.
