Infant Eczema which is also known as infantile eczema is one of the most common skin disorders which are faced by infants and small children. This type of eczema mainly appears on the baby’s scalp, forehead and cheeks and leads to dry, red and itchy skin. Small bumps may also appear in this situation. Majority of the Infant Eczema cases are mild and some gentle skin ointments can be used for their treatment.
But in few cases it may also become chronic and severe and may occur along with hay fever, allergies and asthma. One of the major reasons which may cause infantile Eczema is the sensitivity to various allergens around the infant like dust, pollen, animal dander and mold. Faulty immune system is also one of the major causes for this type of eczema and in some children the outbreak may be caused by some specify food item.
Treatment of this disorder includes combination of ointments, topical corticosteroids, antibiotics and antihistamines. Moreover this skin disorder represents extra sensitive skin and most of the infants suffering from this problem will outgrow them by the age of 2 to 3 years. Thus proper care and prevention should be taken in order to treat Infant Eczema and to reduce its symptoms.
