What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a mild cosmetic surgery, which improves skin conditions. Recovery of skin is faster than cosmetic surgery. Skin can return to routine state in less time and the risk of damage is also less.

The basic difference in microdermasion and other procedures is that the skin is intact unlike others where the skin is left open after surgery. Similar to Microdermabrasion are, chemical peels which are milder, Botox and Non-ablative resurfacing surgeries using lasers. These are unlike other procedure which leave the damaged skin and open wounds like chemical peels which are deep in nature, Ablative resurfacing procedures using laser, eyelifts, facelifts and rhinoplasty. In Microdermabrasion the uppermost layer of the skin which is dead is exfoliated. This is a routine treatment for many, which would get over in about 30 minutes. As compared to other treatments it is quite fast and doesn’t involve much pain. There isn’t any rupture to skin or damage of any kind.

While majority of people would find this as a very easy, effective and reliable way to obtain a wonderful looking skin, people with delicate skin or with any skin condition should be a bit careful. A skin which is very sensitive or has any skin condition should be cautious and talk to the dermatologist openly about it. If this is done in a spa the person treating you should be notified.
