How Is Seborrheic Eczema Diagnosed?

Seborrheic Eczema is an inflammatory skin condition which is characterized by flaky skin, itching, redness and others. The diagnosis of this disorder is based upon the appearance and location of various skin lesions. The doctor may also discuss about your family medical history in diagnosis of this problem as it appears to run in families. Seborrheic Eczema mainly appears on that areas of the body which have concentration of sebaceous glands, thus for the diagnosis of this problem the symptoms should be looked on scalp, face, truck, and on the skin folds present on the middle body portion.

In its initial stages this disorder may be diagnosed as greasy or dry scaling which becomes red and oily and may also cause itching. Since initial white flakes of this problem may appear like the ones in dandruff, but later on symptoms may start aggravating, thus proper diagnosis by a specialized doctor is needed. Hair loss is also one of the symptoms of this problem which may prove to be helpful for diagnosis.  After studying the skin appearance, its symptoms and family medical history if doctor finds the diagnosis of this disorder to be positive then he may prescribe treatment to provide relief from its symptoms.
