What Are the Symptoms of Infant Eczema?

Infant Eczema mainly appears on the arms, face, cheeks and scalp of the infant and leads to dry, red and itchy skin. The most common symptoms of this disease are characterized by flaked or scaly skin, small raised bumps and even pustules.

The rashes during this form of eczema causes severe itching and can appear at any part of the body. Babies who develop infantile eczema become more prone to scratching which tends to make the skin crack open which even bleeds. In such cases there is a possibility that infection may increase further and worsen the situation.  Infant Eczema may also show symptoms of other conditions like hay fever, asthma and allergies as it is genetic by nature and may pass down through family lines.  Various factors like certain foods, heat and common allergies may also trigger the symptoms.

Besides initial appearance on body parts like scalp, face, and others the eczema may spread on the entire body of the baby in severe cases and can also lead to oozing, itching and swollen skin. Though the mild cases of this problem may be treated with the use of some gentle ointments but when it becomes severe then specific medication may also be needed.
