What Are the Symptoms of Seborrheic Eczema?

Seborrheic Eczema is basically a skin disorder which mainly affects the scalp, trunk and face. The major symptoms of this disorder include skin lesions, plague spread over the areas of scalp, eyebrows, forehead, nose or ears, greasy and oily skin, mild redness, itching  and skin scale which may be white and flaking or yellowish oily.

The symptoms of this disease starts as dry or greasy scaling on the areas of scalp which later on becomes red and oily and also causes itching. Odor is also one of its signs, which is experienced due to the bacteria buildup on the scalp. This disorder should not be confused with dandruff as it is caused due to the inflammation in the upper skin layer.

 Moreover the symptoms of Seborrheic Eczema appear more on the skin areas where there is concentration of sebaceous glands. Besides other symptoms, temporary hair loss may also be experienced by people suffering from this problem. If outbreaks are severe and are left untreated for a long period of time then it may also damage the hair follicles and lead to permanent hair loss. Various treatments for this disorder are available which mainly gives relief from its symptoms.
